What is 'Erlang'?

Erlang is a functional programming language, similar to Haskell, designed at the Ericsson Computer Science Laboratory.

Erlang was originally developed to have the desirable features of Lisp, Prolog and Parlog, but with concurrency and error recovery built into the language.

Open-source Erlang is being released to help encourage the spread of Erlang outside Ericsson.
